Improved coin hitbox and movement controls

I just published a new build for Chicken Chasers that includes some major quality of life improvements!

What's new:

The chicken hitbox is much smaller and the coin hitbox is much bigger

This makes it much easier to get a coin, closer to what you would expect based on the visual indications in the game.

While this makes the game easier, we hope the challenges will arise from the unique movement mechanics and interesting levels.

The rotation controlled by mouse movement is now locked to processor speed

With this improvement, calibration between the development computer and your personal gameplay experience is consistent.

There is an intended future improvement to adjust the mouse sensitivity as an in-game setting.

Player has a second shadow to indicate tilt

A second drop circle is now coming from the players head, as a way to indicate how far tipped they are. This will allow for better understanding by the player of when they are about to fall down.

This feature will be iterated on to determine how best we can communicate tip level to the player.

No more quit button on start menu

The quit button is no longer visible on the start menu, causing potential crashes.

Freed mouse at the start of level

This will allow you to traverse the level introduction UI pop-up more easily.

What's planned:

There is still so much to do for this game, but here is what we have planned next!

  1. Improve "fell down" logic to avoid false positives near walls
  2. Add settings (volume control and mouse sensitivity)
  3. Add controller support
  4. Add progression saving
  5. Add pausing in level
  6. Bug fixes
