Farm rabbits to complete genetic challenges in this cute and charming mini game!

Your objective is to produce the desired "goal rabbit" by directing mate pairings of an ever growing and moving bunny population.

Genetics

  • Sex is demonstrated with the presence or absence of a bow.  Breeding only works between rabbits of opposite sex.
  • Each rabbit has two genes per trait, and one of those per parent is randomly selected and given to the offspring. 🧬
  • Some trait options have dominance and will appear in a rabbit if present in only one of the rabbit's two genes. (ie: being bearded or having a particular spot pattern)
  • Some trait options are recessive and will appear in a rabbit only if both the rabbit's genes have this trait option. (ie: being albino)
  • Some traits options are randomly selected from the two present genes in a rabbit (ie: the color of spots)

Trait Dominance

Base fur: White < Grey < Light Brown < Dark Brown < Black

Ears: Short < Tall < Down

No spot < Spot, Spot color is randomly selected from present genes

No beard < Beard

Albino < No albino

This game was produced as part of the Summer Slow Jam - July - Random Generation game jam, with the theme "Tame the Chaos".

Hey Luvv_xox the kitti!

Thanks for trying out Like Rabbits!

For your first picture, grey is a less dominant color than black or brown, so it's possible both the brown and black rabbit had a grey (or lighter) hidden gene, allowing the offspring to result in grey.

For the second picture, it does appear that you got the goal rabbit. I wonder if maybe there is a dark spot on the rabbit you made that is not visible but messing up the "same rabbit" detection. I agree that it shouldn't work like that, it should count as having gotten the goal rabbit, and will remove the possibility of this happening again.

I really appreciate the feedback!

Hi again! I took a look at the code and quickly saw an issue in how the comparison to the goal rabbit was done for level 2. Changed it in a way that should prevent any similar issues from coming up on the other levels, too. Just uploaded a new build.

Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention!
